As honored as I was to receive the news about the Lowell Thomas Awards, the reason I feel most compelled to share it with you here is because I have *you* to thank for the path Moment Sketchers has taken this year.
Even more than giving our community the unique name I feel it deserves, I also love how the new name of Moment Sketchers instantly conveys what we’re about. Most importantly, I hope it’ll help us grow even more over time.
The recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia, still weigh heavy on my heart, but I’m grateful for the people in my own life, and for all of you in my community around the globe, who believe love must always win.
Teaching a sketching workshop reminded me of the power of our sketchbooks: That instead of looking down at our devices, sketching draws our gaze up and out into the world, where beauty and discovery await us.
Throughout the 40 Days of Moments project, I kept my eyes peeled for magic — because that’s one of the greatest lessons this project taught me: When we are on the lookout for moments, the universe provides them.
